Quartz countertops are engineered to be non-porous — making them the easiest stone surface to maintain.

Quartz is low-maintenance, but a few simple habits will keep your countertops looking brand new for decades.

Why Quartz Is So Easy to Maintain

Quartz countertops are engineered to be non-porous, which means liquids and bacteria can't penetrate the surface. This makes them naturally resistant to staining and easy to clean — no sealing required.

Daily Cleaning

Quartz doesn’t ask much of you. Warm water, mild soap, a soft cloth. That’s the entire maintenance routine.

For everyday cleaning, all you need is:

  • Warm water
  • A mild dish soap
  • A soft cloth or sponge

Wipe down the surface after cooking and dry with a clean cloth. That's it.

What to Avoid

Always use a trivet. Heat is quartz’s only real weakness.

Even though quartz is durable, a few things can damage it:

**Heat:** Quartz is NOT heat-resistant. Always use trivets or hot pads under hot pots, pans, and appliances. Direct heat can cause thermal shock and crack the resin binders.

**Harsh chemicals:** Avoid bleach, oven cleaners, drain cleaners, and abrasive scrubbers. These can damage the surface finish over time.

**Sharp objects:** While quartz is scratch-resistant, it's not scratch-proof. Use a cutting board — it protects both your countertop and your knife edges.

**UV exposure:** Extended direct sunlight can cause quartz to fade. This is rarely an issue indoors, but it's worth noting for outdoor applications.

Removing Stubborn Stains

For dried food or stubborn stains, use a plastic scraper to gently remove the residue, then clean with warm soapy water. For tougher stains, a small amount of isopropyl alcohol on a cloth works well.

Long-Term Care

Unlike granite or marble, quartz never needs to be sealed. Your countertops will look the same in 20 years as they do on installation day — as long as you follow these simple guidelines.
